On September 30th, 2023, the Lebanese National Pharmacovigilance Program, in collaboration with the Lebanese University and the Lebanese American University, held its first annual conference titled "Exploring Pharmacovigilance in the Middle East and North Africa" under the patronage and the presence of His Excellency Dr. Firass Al Abiad, the Minister of Public Health.

The conference was hosted at the Lebanese American University - Byblos campus and was attended by: the President of the Lebanese University – Prof. Bassam Badran, the representative of the World Health Organization - Headquarter in Switzerland - Dr. Shanthi Pal, the representative of the World Health Organization in Lebanon - Dr. Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University - Dr. Nasser Sharif, and the Coordinator of the National Pharmacovigilance Program – Prof. Rita Karam, along with a gathering of experts in the field of pharmaceuticals and pharmacovigilance from Geneva, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.
